I keep a daily journal using writing prompts. David Kadavy wrote it. The book is called The 100 Word Writing Habit, and the accompanying journal contains 100 prompts for journal writing.
I was reviewing the journal today and came across an entry that I wanted to share with you from June 29th, 2025. I hope you enjoy it.
Write about what you would do if you had unlimited time.
This one is pretty easy for me. If I had unlimited time, I would write. I would learn the craft of writing. I would practice more and read more. I would learn how to teach writing. I love words and creating ideas. I don't dedicate enough time to writing or generating ideas. I would love to write scripts for television shows, movies, fiction, non-fiction, documentaries, anything. I want to go all in on my writing. It is something I have wanted to do since I was a kid. Now that I have no job, maybe it's time to do it. What could I accomplish if I went all in on my writing? Where could I end up? The only way I will ever know is to start writing and learning about writing. My cousin recommended that I read the top 6 books on writing. Well, I suppose I should find out which are the top 6 books on writing and read them. Maybe even take a course at Writers and Books. Or perhaps I'll take an online course. Then I need to start writing like my life depends on it. That might be the case when the money runs out.
How much have I done since writing that entry? Not nearly enough. I have become sidetracked with resume writing, job searching, and learning tech skills to help me find work. I think it's about time I start focusing more on my writing.
