Today is a bit of a milestone. It is the 14th day in a row I have posted an article. That's 2 full weeks. While it might not seem like much to some, it means a lot to me. It is not always easy to post every day.
There are days when I struggle to find something to write about. I am developing a list of topics to pull from when I run dry, but it's not very long. At least not yet.
Another thing that makes it hard is the time of day I choose to write. Many writers like to write first thing in the morning. They wake up extra early even to make time to write. I tried that approach before, often getting up at 4:30 a.m. to write. I'll take the "L" on that one.
Waking up early is awesome, but I was never in the right frame of mind that early to actually write anything decent. I prefer my mornings to be about my Bible reading and my coffee. After that, life is ready to begin, and there is no time to write.
So, I write in the evening, after dinner, when the house becomes quiet. I can retreat to my room and just let the words flow. This is not an issue most of the time. However, there are occasions where this timing is problematic.
Since I eat dinner with my family, if dinner is late, the writing is delayed. If my niece has something for school in the evening, the writing has to wait until I get home. This does not happen often, but it does happen.
What happens if I go to write and the words don't come? That has happened more than anything else. Staring at a blank page with a blank brain. Talk about feeling the pressure.
So far, in the last 2 weeks, I have been able to make the evenings work. There have not been any major hiccups or severe writer's block. I might have a tough time getting started, but once I'm going, the words pick up steam, and I'm able to turn out decent stuff.
I could take my cousin and coach, Mark's advice, and write a bunch of articles ahead of time. This actually makes a lot of sense. However, I have always found my writing style to be better when I write, edit, and post all at once.
But Mark is right, and I should have a hopper of articles I can grab from in case something comes up. It's an idea I am going to strongly consider. I figure I could take a day or 2 a week, block out some time, and write a few articles.
I hope you are enjoying my work. I do not take any of it lightly, and I do not take you for granted. I appreciate you taking the time to read my work and will continue to provide content that, I hope, entertains.
